Paul E. Fergason
Paul E. Fergason, 84, lifelong Franklin, IN resident passed away Sunday, February 7, 2016. He was born July 16, 1931 in Franklin, IN to Hallard Fergason and Mary Opal (Clark) Fergason. He married Connie La-Dee (Neese) Fergason on January 1, 1957 at First Baptist Church in Franklin, IN she preceded him in death on September 3, 2012.
Paul was a graduate of Alva Neal High School in Franklin, IN. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and American Legion Post #205 in Franklin, IN. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He and his father were house movers. He also worked at R.O. Barber trucking and Arnold Thompson in Franklin as a heavy equipment operator. He also later worked for Robertson Construction as a mechanic, and shop foreman for the Johnson County Highway Department. He enjoyed racing dirt track cars in his youth and later with his son Andy. He also enjoyed working on International Harvester and Ford Tractors.
Survivors include his children Jodi L. Fergason of Franklin, IN, Soni R. Mitchell (John) of Franklin, IN and David Andrew “Andy” Fergason (Mary Facemire) of Franklin, IN; grandsons Andrew White (Karina Huezo) of Franklin, and Joseph Mitchell (Austin Randolph) of Franklin; five great-grandchildren, Ayden White, Zak White, Samantha White, Ghianna White, Emily Ruiz; nieces Patty Mitchell and Holly Pease both of Franklin, IN, Kelly Ferry of Trafalgar, IN; two nephews Alan Miller of Franklin, IN and Tim Miller of Michigan, and he also had received into his family Candy Rockemann of Franklin, IN and Caroline Fisher of Greenwood, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother Richard Fergason and sister Betty Louise Miller.
The Reverend Linda McCrea will conduct a private service. A private burial will conclude at Greenlawn Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends at Paul’s Garage at his residence on Thursday, February 11, 2016 from 5-8PM to gather for a time of sharing of his life. Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31, (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN is handling the arrangements.
