Obituary for Michael E. Leslie

Michael E. Leslie, 63, of Greenwood, IN passed away Monday, February 1, 2016 at his residence. He was born May 24, 1952 in Indianapolis, IN to Ernest and Margaret (Neeley) Leslie. He married Nicole S. (Buchweitz) Leslie on February 15, 2002 in Indianapolis, IN, she survives.
He was a 1970 graduate of Ben Davis High School and a U.S. Army Veteran. He had been a shop foreman for Rollins Construction in Indianapolis, IN for ten years and was previously a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of Mt. Auburn United Methodist Church in Stones Crossing, Greenwood, IN. He was a private pilot flying at the Greenwood Airport. He enjoyed 60’s and 70’s rock and roll music and the family dog Maggie.
Survivors include his wife Nicole S. (Buchweitz) Leslie of Greenwood, IN; children Mike E. Leslie (Maureen) of Castleton, IN, Zach T. Leslie (Jami) of Noblesville, IN, Mallory S. Distler (Matt Barton) of Berlin, MD, Tyler M. Distler (Stacey Allison) of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren Ryan M. Leslie and Ethan N. Leslie both of Noblesville, IN, and Khloe Distler and Mylee Allison of Indianapolis, IN; his father Ernest Leslie of Indianapolis, IN; brother Herk Leslie of Avon, IN; sisters Cathy Phillips (Vern) of Avon, IN, and Linda Watson of Clearwater, FL, and mother-in-law Janet Buchweitz of Greenwood, IN.
He was preceded in death by his mother Margaret (Neeley) Leslie and father-in-law Wolfgang Buchweitz.
The Reverend Jeff Buck will conduct a memorial service 7PM Friday, February 5, 2016 at Mt. Auburn United Methodist Church, 3100 West Stones Crossing Road, in Greenwood, IN, 46143, where the family will receive friends from 3PM Friday until service time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the St. Francis Oncology Center, 5255 East Stop 11 Road, Indianapolis, IN, 46237 and make checks payable to the Franciscan Alliance Foundation, Attn: Michael E. Leslie memorial. The family wishes to acknowledge and express their gratitude to the St. Francis Oncology Center for all the care that was given.
