Joan K. (French) Lusk, 86, of New Whiteland, IN passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015 at her residence where she had lived since 1958, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born June 6, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan, being the first baby born at Women’s Hospital to William Joseph and Pauline (Brokowski) French. She married Robert Fletcher Lusk on August 18, 1951 in Detroit, Michigan, he preceded her in death on November 5, 2004. She was a member of Risen Lord Lutheran Church in Bargersville and a former member of Advent/Abundant Grace Lutheran Church in Greenwood. Since middle school, she had been a member of various school and church choral groups and also was a member of the choir for the Billy Graham Crusade in Indianapolis, IN. She loved flower gardening, her dachshund Heidi, and was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed being with her family. She was a customer service representative and worked in the credit department for Sears in Greenwood, IN and worked for Bell Telephone.
Survivors include her two daughters Susan W. Lusk Riggle (Greg) of Clayton, North Carolina and Jeri A. Christmas (Jeff) of New Whiteland, IN; five grandchildren, Crystal Hickey (Matthew) of Franklin, IN, Amy Christmas of Franklin, IN, Mari Christmas of Franklin, IN, Greg Riggle Jr. of Charleston, South Carolina and Robert Riggle of Clayton, North Carolina; seven great-grandchildren, Zachary, Benjamin, Emily, Bethany, Tre`, Blake, and Autumn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant sister Dorothy French and sister Geraldine Hawkins.
The Reverend Mike Mercer will conduct a service Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 4PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street), Franklin, IN.
