Obituary for Patricia Ruth Quackenbush (Brier)

Patricia Ruth (Brier) Quackenbush, 75, of Indianapolis, Indiana and formerly of Greenwood, Indiana went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born on October 23, 1937 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Norman and Jennie (Pressel) Brier. She graduated from Warren Central High School in 1955. She was Drum Major for the band. Patti was married to Billy A. Quackenbush on July 18, 1964 in Indianapolis. She began teaching dancing in 1953 in Indianapolis. Patti and her sister Judy shared a dance studio for many years. She taught tap, ballet, hula, baton twirling, jazz and other forms of dance. Patti left the dance profession in the late 70’s and worked for J.C. Penny’s as an interior decorator. She opened Quackenbush Interiors with her husband Bill in the early 80’s. They operated that business for 16 years before retiring. Patti and Bill attended Southland Community Church in Greenwood, Indiana most recently. Prior to attending Southland they were active in the choir and many small groups at Community Church of Greenwood. Their church families were very much loved by Patti & Bill. They so appreciated the love and care shown to them by those groups of people. Patti was an accomplished artist, writer, and seamstress. Many loved ones were blessed recipients of her beautiful quilts, afghans and embroidery works of love.
Survivors include her step-daughter Michelle Quackenbush of Centennial, Colorado, 5 step grandchildren, 3 step great-grandchildren, a sister, Judy G. (Terry) Myers of Lake Wales, Florida, a brother, David F. (Myra) Brier, Sr. of Indianapolis, Indiana and many much loved nieces and nephews, cousins, and their families. She was proceeded in death by her husband Billy A. and her parents.
Reverend Steve Schellin will conduct a celebration of life service on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 7 p.m. at Southland Community Church, 5800 W. Smith Valley Road, Greenwood, Indiana. Friends may call from 5 p.m. Thursday, January 31 until service time at the church. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, February 1 at Marion National Cemetery in Marion, Indiana.
